Finished in a rare Natural, or Blonde finish, the guitar beautifully showcases the grain of its carved spruce top and highly figured maple back and sides.

The L-7C was Gibson’s cutaway version of the L-7 and was built as a professional level acoustic archtop. With its full 17” body, carved spruce top, maple back and sides and long 25 1/2” scale, the L-7C has the projection, clarity and acoustic presence associated with Gibson’s great carved archtops of the period.

This particular example has been fully restored by Laurent Brondel in Maine. Laurent is an exceptional luthier and restoration specialist whose work is known for its attention to tone, structural integrity and playability. His restoration work on this L-7C is fantastic. The guitar is structurally sound with no known structural issues and is now playing beautifully.

In fact, this is one of the best playing L-7s we have had the opportunity to spend time with. It has a lively and immediate acoustic response with excellent note separation, projection and balance. Despite its full sized archtop body, it feels remarkably comfortable and inviting in the hands.

A new bone nut and was installed and a pro re-fret has been done (vintage medium jumbo) during the restoration. The original pickguard had previously been replaced, and the guitar now wears an exact reproduction of the correct original style pickguard. All other components appear to be original.

There is evidence of a previous electronics installation, including an existing hole that does not align perfectly with the current tailpiece position. We would recommend having the tailpiece shifted slightly to improve the string alignment across the bridge and fingerboard. This is a relatively minor adjustment and there are no associated structural concerns. If you would like, we can have the tailpiece shifted over for you prior to shipping. It will simply add a little additional time before the guitar is ready to ship.

The rare Blonde finish is particularly striking on this example, allowing the natural character of the woods to take center stage. The beautifully figured maple back is especially impressive. Combined with the split parallelogram fingerboard inlays, bound body and neck and classic Gibson appointments, it has the understated elegance that makes these vintage L-7s so appealing.

Fully restored by Laurent Brondel, structurally sound and exceptionally playable, this is a fantastic vintage Gibson archtop that is ready for its next home.

Specifications

Model: Gibson L-7C
Era: Likely late 1950s to early 1960s
Made in: Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
Finish: Rare Natural / Blonde
Body Style: Full hollow carved archtop with cutaway
Lower Bout: 17”
Top: Carved solid spruce
Back and Sides: Figured maple
Scale Length: Approximately 25 1/2”
Nut Width: Approximately 1 11/16”
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Fingerboard Inlays: Pearl split parallelograms
Bridge: Adjustable rosewood
Tailpiece: Gibson trapeze style
Pickguard: Exact reproduction of the original style
Nut: New bone nut
Restoration: Fully restored by Laurent Brondel in Maine
Structural Condition: No known structural issues
Case: Hardshell case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0756/4456/7851/files/2398988D-D603-47A0-B3B5-F08DD6641DC5.jpg?v=1787310123
https://southshoreguitarboutique.com/products/gibson-l7c-blonde-w-stinger-circa-1956-1960-restored-by-laurent-brondel
