Grez Guitars are hand built in California one at a time by Luthier Barry Grzebik. The Mendocino is a breath of fresh air in the world of hand-built Electric Guitars. Grez Guitars are a unique blend of high quality, old world craftsmanship and forward thinking design. The idea behind the Mendocino was to build a super light weight and compact highly chambered Semi-Hollow body guitar, that sounds like a mix between a full-size semi-hollow guitar and an archtop. This particular custom example features a highly figured Burl Old-Growth Redwood top, which was harvested from a reconstructed train-tunnel. The tunnel was originally built in 1884 . When the tunnel was built, the wood was already 800-900 years old. The Redwood was removed from the tunnels ceiling in 2009. Nothing sounds quite like the mellow shimmer you get from old-growth Redwood, especially wood that has had 100's of years to dry. This guitar is very loud acoustically, with tone thats more than satisfying. When plugged in the mix of Lollar Low Wind Imperial Humbuckers and the highly acoustic Redwood body, meld together in a beautiful, airy, dreamy way. These guitars evenly cover all playing styles with ease. From fingerpicking Country to Jazz, Western Swing, Rock and more.   This instrument has a beautiful Macassar Ebony fingerboard with a 12" radius. It is a true joy to hold and play. The Lollars in this guitar sound incredible and 3D clean, yet they also take gain extremely well, with overtones and harmonics that’s just leap off the fret board. This is a true heirloom-quality guitar, that you will enjoy for a lifetime.
