Luthier Mateo Rufini is a builder of many fine, handmade stringed instruments in Italy. He builds everything from violins to classical guitars and of course his own line of electrics, where his passion truly lies. This guitar is from his new line of vintage inspired instruments. It was ordered in 2021 and has just arrived at our store on 3/7/2022.

The body has a satin nitro Ice Blue finish with open pores, so that you can see and feel the grain of the wood; as well as allow the instrument to resonate freely. The finish has a unique and soft feel to the touch. The neck is made from European rock maple with a padauk slab fingerboard. The body is bult from light weight korina giving the guitar a stronger mid-range foundation than most Tele style instruments.

The hand-wound Rufini T-Modern pickups give you classic Tele twang and bite in the bridge position, while the neck pickup is wound with 44 gauge wire, in order to give you more clarity and punch than a traditional Tele neck pickup; which would typically be wound with 43 gauge wire. These are great pickups. The bridge position is very authentic and truly sounds like one of our personal 66 Teles and the neck pickup is even nicer in tone than the vintage 66 Tele. We communicated to Rufini our love for later mid-60's Tele pickups and he knocked it out of the park. Making them just bright and twangy enough to cut through a mix with ease, without piercing your eardrums.

The T-Modern has a unique 4 bolt with bushings, bolt on neck design and a super tight neck pocket. So there is minimal play or movement in the neck. It is very stable. This also helps the neck and body to vibrate together freely. You'll notice how loud this T-Modern is unplugged before anything else. The hardware used on Rufini's guitars is always chosen carefully, for the best results in feel and tone. The bridge is an In-Tune dual-cut side T-Style bridge by Gotoh w/ compensated brass saddles. The tuners are made by Kluson with an 18:1 ratio. They are smooth and precise with a more modern esthetic than vintage 6 in a line tuners. The fretwork with medium jumbo fret wire is impeccable and approached in a unique way, compared to most Teles. The frets are cut to size and put in so that they do not protrude from the sides of the fingerboard. This gives you the feel of wood binding. From the sides all you see and feel is the fingerboard material.

This is very lively guitar that will more likely than not, far exceed your expectations. It surely has exceeded ours; as Rufini's work always does.
