Available is an excellent 2018 example of the Antonio model by master luthier Ulrich Teuffel in Germany. This guitar features a dark brown sunburst finish and natural back and sides. The body and neck are built entirely out of Honduran mahogany with a ziricote fingerboard as well as ziricote body binding. The Antonio is Ulrich Teuffel's nod to two luthier legends Antonio Torres and Antonio Stradivari. You can see the theme of classical guitar design throughout the entirety of this composition; from the body shape, to the pickup mount that is in the shape of an acoustic guitars sound-hole and of course the slotted headstock and flat-top style bridge. The bridge is actually fully adjustable with metal studs attached beneath it for height adjustment and wooden saddles that allow for full intonation of each string.
The Antonio is a unique chamber bodied electric guitar and highly functional work of art that will inspire you to explore new sonic territory. This model features a single Teuffel handwound Alnico 2 humbucker that can be split via the push-pull volume control. The pickup has a warm and inviting presence while being highly responsive to your pick attack. Splitting the pickup allows for a more crystalline and bell-like top end. This guitar is equally as much of a joy to play as it is to admire. You can feel instantly upon strumming a single chord, that this guitar is highly resonant. The soft v neck profile and 24.75" scale give the Antonio a more familiar feel than you might expect from a Teuffel.
The only non-original part of this guitar would be the tuners. The original owner found that the Gotoh Stealth tuning machines were not holding tune to his liking. He had a very high-end set of custom tuning machines built for him by Rodgers Tuning Machines in Nova Scotia. They have snakewood buttons and fit the overall aesthetic of this build very nicely. The holes for the original tuners are fully hidden beneath the new machines. The guitar has had a recent pro setup by Izzy Lugo of Fiam Guitars in Milton NY. Izzy was also the one to replace the tuners; so you know the job was done with care. The original Stealths are included in this sale.
This Teuffel has been well maintained and shows very little signs of use. As to be expected with a dark gloss top there are some surface level scratches to the finish. The frets are like new and the guitar comes in its original hard shell case with its original set of adjustment tools.
