Johan Gustavsson Bluesmaster BM-59 Ltd – Collector-Owned, Rare 1-Piece Top, No Buzz Feiten
There are few guitars that capture the spirit and tone of a golden-era Les Paul like a Gustavsson Bluesmaster, and this BM-59 Ltd is a perfect example of what makes Johan’s work so revered. Built in Sweden by Johan Gustavsson, one of the most respected luthiers in the boutique world, the BM-59 Ltd is his flagship singlecut; a lovingly aged tribute to the late-’50s Bursts, with an eye for nuance and detail that few can rival.
This instrument was collector-owned and is in excellent condition, playing with a perfect setup and low action. It features a rare one-piece eastern rock maple top, no Buzz Feiten tuning system, and no belly contour, staying true to vintage-correct specs and feel. The frets have their full life ahead of them, and the hand-applied aged nitro “Lemon Drop” finish brings out the natural elegance of the top, while the subtle factory aging gives it that lived-in magic.
Loaded with Throbak SLE-101 MXV pickups, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and lightweight Honduran mahogany for both the body and neck, this BM-59 has the bloom, clarity, and midrange honk you’d expect from a late-’50s Burst, but with Johan’s unmistakable touch in the details.
These guitars don’t come up often, especially in this configuration and condition. A true once in a lifetime instrument of the highest caliber.
