The MADA Agua is a striking example of modern European luthiery that feels equally rooted in thoughtful design and old-world craftsmanship. Built in Vienna, Austria by Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky, the Agua has a personality all its own. There’s a refined minimalism to the instrument that immediately stands out, yet beneath that understated aesthetic is a deeply resonant and highly responsive guitar built from carefully sourced local materials.
This particular Agua, finished in Water Candygreen nitrocellulose, has an organic and almost architectural feel to it. The use of horse chestnut for the body top and Robinia for the fingerboard gives the instrument a unique tonal character with plenty of clarity, warmth, and articulation. Paired with the dual Kluson P90 pickups, the result is a guitar that can move effortlessly from open, airy clean tones into rich, harmonically complex overdrive with exceptional touch sensitivity.
The bolt-on maple neck feels immediate and lively in the hands, while the 12” radius and 640mm scale length offer a familiar yet slightly refined playing experience that encourages both articulate chord work and fluid lead playing.
