The Carr Super Bee is a compact combo that delivers the unmistakable spirit of a Fullerton-era blackface Super Reverb in a far more practical size. Built around a single 10” Eminence Copperhead speaker and powered by a pair of 6BM8 output tubes, it captures that scooped sparkle, edge-of-breakup snap, and singing overdrive that players love about the classic 4x10 formula, but at a much more manageable 10 watts.
What makes the Super Bee so compelling is how easily it moves from shimmering cleans to rich, harmonically complex breakup without overwhelming the room. It has the lively response and bloom of a great vintage-inspired amp, but with thoughtful modern touches that make it far easier to live with in today’s venues, studios, and home setups. The built-in attenuator lets you drop from full output down to 2 watts and even quieter settings, while the tube-driven reverb adds dimension and depth without getting in the way of the core tone.
Carr also gave the Super Bee a highly usable Sting switch with three distinct voices. The 64 setting offers extra-scooped, glassy blackface-style cleans, 68 adds more push and bite for twang and crunch, and 72 shifts the response toward fuller mids and greater gain for thicker lead tones. Add in the feel of the EZ81 tube rectifier and Carr’s renowned point-to-point craftsmanship, and the Super Bee stands out as an incredibly musical small combo with far more tonal authority than its size suggests.
