The body is made of alder and finished in a translucent aged Candy Apple Red nitro lacquer that lets the subtle wood grain breathe through the color. It’s accented by double cream binding, herringbone purfling, and a full tortoise Halcón pickguard, giving it a bold yet elegant presence.
The roasted quartersawn maple neck features Carlos’ Chunky V-C profile with a smooth mole-tint satin finish. A rosewood fingerboard and 27-inch baritone scale combine to deliver a rich low-end foundation with easy, familiar playability. The 12-inch radius and 21 frets provide a balanced and a comfortable feel across the board.
What makes this El Halcón truly special is the pickup configuration. This is the first Castedosa guitar ever to be outfitted with a full set of Ron Ellis Jazzmaster pickups. Known for their clarity, depth, and exceptional harmonic response, these hand-wound pickups were voiced specifically for this instrument. Together, they offer a broad tonal range that’s articulate and full without ever losing nuance. This set of pickups alone would retail for $1,050.
