With over 36 years of building experience, luthier Chuck Thornton truly knows how to craft an exceptionally fine guitar. His Classic II is based on the traditional Fullerton, single cut recipe but with many improvements including hand selected tone-woods; for a balanced and light weight instrument that rings like a bell. This particular Classic II weighs in at only 5lbs 14oz. It features body contours and an angled neck pocket, as well as intonated brass saddles and staggered tuning posts for the utmost stability. The pickups are Harmonic Design's Super 90 Tele set. In this guitar these pickups sound crisp with a nice clear top end and slightly more body/girth than most Tele sets. They certainly still retain the classic Tele bite we all know and love, just a little less peaky. The noise floor is also considerably less then these pickups vintage counterparts, even though they are still true single-coils.
