With over 36 years of building experience, luthier Chuck Thornton truly knows how to craft an exceptionally fine guitar. His Classic II is based on the traditional Fullerton, single cut recipe but with many improvements including hand selected tone-woods; for a balanced and light weight instrument that rings like a bell.
This particular Classic II weighs in at only 6lbs 7oz. It features body contours and a radiused neck pocket, as well as intonated brass saddles and staggered tuning posts for the utmost stability.Ā
The pickups are MOJO UK's Dual Foils w/ custom matching teal foil mesh. A splitable humbucking Gold-Foil with asymmetric coils. This is so that the pickups sound nice and chiming, even while in full humbucker mode. You'll also notice that there is very little of a volume drop; if any, due to the asymmetric windings when splitting the pickups, as the outer coil is always more dominant. In this guitar the Dual Foils sound airy and rich like a traditional Gold-Foil, with a nice clear top end and a slightly scooped mid-range. Humbucking mode is great for pushing your amp into overdrive with more heft to each note than single-coil mode. Single-Coil mode has a more pronounced treble response and more Tele-like spank and bite.Ā
The Nootka Cedar bodies warmth gives the guitar an acoustic like quality with loads of harmonics that leap off the fingerboard. If you are in the market for a special T-style instrument w/ a twist, built by one of the finest luthiers today; then this is your ticket. Setup work is flawless and the guitar is strung with 10-46 gauge strings. Comes w/ HSC and COA.
