Dean Gordon had worked many years in the Chelsea NY area of NYC as a repair tech and custom guitar builder. A few years ago he began building T-Style instruments made from reclaimed timbres that are sourced from the famous Chelsea Hotel. As you’re probably aware, the Chelsea Hotel has more historic significance than we can possibly fit into a single guitar description.

The building was built between 1883 and 1885 and opened to the public in 1885. When first built it was the tallest building in NYC. Many of the worlds most famous celebrities and musicians from the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Andy Warhol and Mark Twain, just to name a few have resided there over the course of their careers.

The body of this particular guitar is made from Civil war era pine sourced from the Chelsea. This LTD Edition Chelsea Hotelecaster in particular has a wonderfully resonant and woody voice full of harmonic complexities that are hard to find in a brand new guitar. It also plays with ease and is of a nice and balanced weight of 7lbs 4oz

This build features a pair of Gemini Pickups. A Suprocaster in the bridge and a Gold Foil in the neck position. They give this guitar a unique voice that’ll stand out from other T-Style instruments you’ve likely played. The bridge is based on the old Supro / Valco guitars lapsteel pickups of the 50’s and early 60’s but in a Tele sized format. This pickup delivers a more aggressive type of Tele tone with a low noise floor and more growl like a P-90 while still having a crystal clear top-end. The neck pickup delivers classic 50’s Gold Foil tone. They are both standard Tele sized pickups for convenience and incase you ever feel like auditioning something different inside of this guitar.
