Here we have one of the most beloved Combo Amps of all time. A true vintage 1968 Fender Deluxe Reverb. These rare vintage 1968 examples with the "Drip Edge" boarders around the Grill Cloth, retain the famous "Blackface AB763" amplifier circuits, as their predecessors and are a true steal compared to earlier Blackface examples fetching many more thousands of dollars.
This amp is fully-functioning and gig-ready. It has seen only some basic maintenance over the years, which an amp this old truly needs in order to be a reliable musical tool for performance and/or recording. Some caps and pre-amp tubes as well as the foot switch and 2 prong chord have been replaced. It now has a much safer 3-prong chord. The original speaker, transformers, vintage GE pre-amp tube, 2 RCA 6v6 output tubes, Reverb pan/tank and most importantly the tone is still intact.
We've had the pleasure of playing and owning many vintage Fender Black and Silverface amps over the years; and this one just has it! The sparkling top-end, perfectly balanced mids with a nice full low-end can all be found within this amp and more. When pushed into breakup territory, all that clarity is still retained, but with more than enough natural dirt/overdrive at reasonable gigging volumes, for practically all styles of music.
These old AB763 circuits are also the perfect platforms for effects pedal lovers who either want to use a boost or overdrive to dial in even more gain; or want an amp with enough headroom to bring out the best in any delay, modulation or any other sort of effect your'e using. The on-board Reverb is lush and could go from subtle to in your face surf tones with the turn of the dial. The on board trem effect sounds rich and strong and could go from very slow to extremely fast and choppy. There are some scuffs to the tolex and a few small tears in the grill cloth. Overall this Deluxe Reverb is in awesome working and good cosmetic condition, and is ready to give its new owner a lifetime of excellent, classic Fender tone.
