This long scale (25 1/2”) ES-350T was built in the late 70s early 80s. The serial numbers from around this time period are a bit skewed and difficult to pin point an exact date. One reason is because Gibson began using a different Ser # system around that time.
The guitar was marked factory second as many were during this era as well. There are stories of workers during the late 70’s and 80’s who would sometimes even mark a guitar Factory second so that they could keep the guitar, etc.
The expert guitar builder we work with for repairs & restoration has pin pointed why this guitar was marked a 2nd. He found a small finish blemish on the top, though it is extremely hard to see now after years of play wear.
The guitar plays incredibly well, with a low action of just 4 & 4 & 1/2 6ths, high E to low E at the 12th fret & is string up with flat wound 12’s. There is room for adjustment either way on the bridge. This Gibson honestly sounds and plays better than most new Gibson Archtops we’ve had in recently. It has opened up wonderfully throughout the years and the notes bloom with more than average sustain for an archtop guitar. This is probably due to the long scale and fully hollow body nature of the design.
The pickups and controls are original. The guitar has been refretted and the frets were recently dressed so that the guitar plays incredibly, some binding cracks & pieces that have been glued back on (old Nitrate bi ding). This is common with many vintage guitar companies guitars of this time period. Job was done well, No dead spots. This might not be a museum piece ES-350T, but it is one of the best playing out there and an extremely great value. Comes W/ OHSC.
