Grez Guitars Mendocino Junior 2021 Trans TV Yellow NEW (Authorized Dealer)The Mendocino Jr. is the newest model to the Grez Guitars lineup. It features a 13.25" wide, 1-piece Old Growth Redwood body and a 1-piece Mahogany neck. It is the same shape as its sibling the Mendocino Semi-Hollow body, except it is of course solid and slightly thinner and instead of a 25" scale it has a 24 3/4" scale length. Like the Mendocino this guitar's weight is very comfortable at only 5lbs 6oz. The word resonant gets thrown around a lot in guitar listings, however when you pickup the Mendocino Jr. you'll be shocked by it's volume when played acoustically. Barry's knowledge of sound and acoustics is vast with his past career being in the acoustic-science and high-end audio manufacturing industry. This shows right away upon playing any of Grez's models, it's just surprising for a solid body to be this acoustically present.

The single Wolftone Meaner P-90 pickup in the bridge position rounds out the build nicely, with a fat, aggressive but not too hot P-90 tone that can be quite versatile. A good friend, customer and gigging NY guitarist of ours has been playing his Mendocino Jr. in nearly every application possible since recently purchasing one from us. You can even roll the tone back just enough to get a convincing Jazz tone, but where this instrument really shines is through a cranked tube amp or with a good overdrive pedal. It loves to rock with rich harmonics and a quick attack that feels almost immediate; especially when playing single note runs. All in all this is another wonderful model by Grez Guitars, that is sure to put a smile on your face and at a reasonable price-point.
