The idea behind the Mendocino was to build a super light weight (in this case 5lbs 4oz) and compact, highly chambered Semi-Hollow body guitar, that sounds like a mix between a full-size Semi-Hollow guitar and an Archtop.
This particular very customized and classy example, features a highly figured Old-Growth Redwood Burl top, tortoise top and back body binding and 3-ply white/black/white purfling.
Nothing sounds quite like the mellow yet ultra lively shimmer, you get from old-growth Redwood. Especially wood like this, that has had 100's of years to dry. This guitar is very loud acoustically, with tone that is more than satisfying. When plugged in the mix of the Lollar Low Wind Imperial Humbuckers and the highly acoustic Redwood body, meld together in a beautiful, airy, dreamy way. This instrument has a beautiful Ziricote fingerboard with a 12" radius. It is a true joy to hold and play. The Lollar Low-Wind Imperials in this Mendocino sound wonderful and extremally present with lots of depth and clarity clean, yet they also take gain extremely well; with overtones and harmonics that seem to leap off the fret board. Truly a heirloom-quality, luthier built guitar at a wonderful price-point, that you will enjoy for a lifetime. Easy playability and a perfectly dialed in action make this Mendocino Custom a true joy to play, both plugged in or acoustically.
