The 00-12 fret has always been in our minds the epitome of acoustic guitar designs. The body size is just above the size of what would be considered a Parlor, which inhances comfort while being loud enough for nearly every situation. It's smaller stature with 12 frets to the body, places the bridge in the optimal position for the instrunent to resonate at its finest. These instruments are typically known for their sweet, woody tone with tons of overtones and rich harmonics.
This 00-SP Custom by Huss and Dalton is one of the finest 00-12 fret guitars we've ever played. It is adorned with some eye catching details and best tone woods available; such as the Italian Spruce top with a gorgeous Bear Claw figure as well as a Cocobolo back and sides. The Cocobolo in this case is of the highest quality. It has a gorgeous strait grain and visually looks a lot like Brazillian . Cocobolo is such a wonderful sounding tone wood. It actually is a form of Rosewood and likely the closest sounding thing to Brazillian, which can be found on many pre-war Martin guitars. Many experts say that the quality of Cocobolo which is currently available, is actually closer in tone than the Brazillian Rosewood available today, which is of a much lower quality then the wood seen on vintage pre-war guitars.
This 00-SP Custom has been specked out beautifully, with many gorgeous details such as the top purfling and Indian Rosewood body and neck binding. It also has a striking abalone rosette, with outer and inner rings. The back stripe is a herringbone pattern and the headstock has a matching Cocobolo faceplate. Both flat pickers and finger pickers will fall in love with this masterfully built guitar instantly.
Our good customer, collector and friend recently bought a 42 style Huss and Dalton 00-12 fret from us and has decided to let go of this lovely 00-12, which he had purchased from us only a few moths ago. There's not a mark or ding to speak of and there is less than 4 hours of play-time on this Huss & Dalton 0012-SP Custom.
