This is the newest composition by Japanese luthiers Kaz Goto, his wife Eiko Goto who is also the head finisher for JGHG and Akiko Oda who crafts their custom handmade effects pedals and straps for each new composition. This composition is named "Coota-Coneysides". Head luthier Kaz Goto starts every composition from the ground up by first building custom jigs for each new instrument. No two body shapes or specs are ever replicated exactly the same way twice. For this reason each composition is truly a one of a kind piece of high-end playable art. 

Jersey Girl models do have names that somewhat dictate what the guitar will look like in the end. For example the "Coota" typically has a highly contoured back and a vibrato system, instead of a hardtail bridge and tailpiece like the Jersey Girl "Tapa" model. This guitar in particular incorporates many of Jersey Girls most loved specs such as the bound and multi colored top with hand cut multi colored rope inlay. 

The guitar also features three different single coils. The middle pickup is made up of two separate coils that are split and work together in tandem. For the middle pickup the treble coil is attached to the pickguard and is closer to the neck for more bass response while the bass coil is underneath the same cover as the bridge pickup, which inherently gives the bass strings more treble response.

These pickups have a gorgeous Fullerton-like single coil type of a tone with a bit more heft to them due to their larger bobbin sizes and thinner 43 gauge wire to allow for more windings. The pickups are well insulated and have a very low noise floor. If we didn’t know better we would have thought they were hum-buckers of some sort. They sound beautifully crystalline and clear when clean and while they maintain that clarity when overdriven, you can get a more guttural tone with P-90-like snarl when driven. The more you dig in the more they will compress and breakup. These pickups are very responsive to your pick attack and where you set the volume and tone controls.

Coota-Coneysides also comes with a matching handmade mid-range boost / low gain overdrive which has multiple clipping modes that are designed specifically for these pickups. It can also act as a secondary & active tone control with the level knob set at 12:00 / unity-gain. Or push it past noon for a transparent volume boost. There’s lots of possibilities. This unit helps you to dial in the exact tone and amount of grit you are looking for in any situation.

Coneysides has a 1/4" sawn rock maple neck with some standout Birdseye figure. The body is made of very lightweight swamp ash. This guitars weight is perfectly distributed between its body and neck, so that it balances effortlessly seated or standing with the included handmade strap which also matches the guitars finish.
