The Zipper from Lockhorn instruments is a beautiful mix of old-school retro styling blended with modern playability. You can see hints of many different vintage designs such as the Harmony Stratotone, Gibson Melody Maker and even a Tele Thinline all within this one design. Each Lockhorn is custom built one at a time in Chicago by luthier duo Benny and Zach.

This guitar features a mahogany top and back with an alder core. The string through tailpiece was designed and built by Lockhorn Instruments and is paired with a tune-a-matic bridge for great intonation and sustain. The Jazzmaster pickups by Lollar along with the semi hollow construction give this guitar a nice and thick twangy tone. Duane Eddy would have loved this guitar. With it’s 1 11/16” nut width this Zipper lends itself beautifully to fingerpicking. You’ll also notice that this is one of those guitars that just loves to be played overdriven, with its musical feedback and cutting tone. The shorter 1 & 3/4” scale along with the mahogany top and back really mellow out the sound of the single coils.

Lots of tonal variations are made possible with the 5-way rotary switch which gives you the options of Neck, Series, Parallel, Out of phase and Bridge. Certainly a well built, fun and unique instrument with a timeless aesthetic.
