This is one particularly nice Tele hand crafted by luthier Mario Martin in Nashville Tennessee. All the pieces just fell into place perfectly on this one. A terrific and authentic feeling and sounding Black Guard with some modern appointments such as the 9.5-12' compound radius, 6105 frets and stagged tuning posts. This guitar weighs in at a light and balanced weight of 6lbs 8oz.
This Mario is a classically specked Black Guard Tele with a one piece Swamp Ash body paired with a one piece hand-carved 1/4" Sawn Maple neck and a set of overwound Fralin Vintage Hot & Blues Special Pickups. Even before plugging in, this guitar rings like a bell with great sustain for such a light weight and well balanced instrument.
You can expect a fat 50's Tele Tone in spades without any of the unwanted and harsh overtones in the bridge position. The Neck position has great string separation and lots of clarity especially when compared to vintage Tele neck pickups. A great sounding Tele set for Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz and more.
This instrument is set-up immaculately. The action is a nice and low at 3 1/2 & 4 64ths of an inch, measuring from the High E to Low E at the 12th fret. The neck is an ultra comfortable Med C shape; not to large, but not super thin either. A beautiful and instantly inspiring classic instrument with modern comfort and playability.
