The Ron Ellis 50’s LRP Humbucker Set captures the character and response of the earliest PAF-style pickups while bringing the detail, feel, and dynamic sensitivity that Ron Ellis designs have become known for. Voiced around the warmth and openness associated with late 1950s humbuckers, the 50’s LRP set delivers a remarkably expressive playing experience with a broad frequency range and an almost acoustic-like clarity beneath the notes.

What immediately stands out is the way these pickups react to the player. There’s a soft attack and bloom that feels effortless under the fingers, with lows that remain full without becoming loose, a rich and vocal midrange, and highs that stay smooth and detailed without harshness. Chords retain separation and depth even with gain, while single notes carry a harmonic complexity that unfolds naturally as they sustain.

The 50’s LRP set leans toward the sweeter, rounder side of vintage humbucker territory compared to more aggressive later-era voices. Clean tones feel wide and three-dimensional, while overdriven sounds develop a singing quality with excellent articulation and touch sensitivity. Like all Ron Ellis pickups, they reward subtle changes in pick attack and volume control adjustments, behaving more like a living part of the instrument than simply a component.

Built entirely by hand in California, the 50’s LRP set reflects Ron’s pursuit of vintage character without sacrificing feel, responsiveness, or nuance.
