Ronin Guitars are getting more and more difficult to find, especially the set-neck models. This Badmoon was John of Ronin's personal guitar, that he kept as an investment piece, but had to part with recently. It is in unused condition with many unique features such as the aged two tone Pinecrest Green and Mustang Green finish as well as white powder coated Foil-Bucker and Foil-Bucker Mini Pickups. These guitars usually come standard with a Single-Foil neck pickup. The guitar also features grained Ivoroid binding and black, white, black body and neck purfling. This is an incredibly balanced guitar seated or standing and weighs in at only 6lbs 11.7oz. John plays with a strap tied to the headstock or seated; so the guitar is currently having a second strap button installed in NY by our friend Izzy Lugo of Ronin Guitars. Izzy is the head builder of all Ronin instruments. The guitar will have two Ronin installed strap buttons when you receive it, like all Badmoons do.
The Badmoon is a set-neck 24 3/4" scale Semi-Hollow Body (The 24.5" scale stated on their website is a typo) It also has a hand carved top by Ronin Guitars. The model is as rare as they come. This Badmoon is extremely loud unplugged, due to its Old-Growth Redwood body and Honduran Mahogany set-neck. All of the acoustic information gets transferred to its beautiful electric voice. It blooms with a breath like pulse when chords or notes are left to ring out and has tremendous sustain and perfect note-to-note separation: Much of this is due to its construction and the unique Ronin pickup designs. It is nothing short of amazing and an incredibly inspiring instrument. Play with a light touch for clean and warm tones with tons of clarity or dig in for biting, snappy, blues and rock tones. The guitar reacts extremely well to where the volume & tone controls are set, giving you a wide palate to create your own signature sound.
The Foil-Bucker Mini in the neck position is warm and inviting when clean, while handling overdrive like a champ; giving you raunchy yet articulate blues tones in spades. The bridge Foil Bucker is like the best sounding PAF Humbucker, mixed with the crisp and airy tone of a great vintage Gold Foil pickup. Both pickups have loads of girth and clarity. They are extremely responsive to your touch & where your volume knob is set. As you lower the volume control this guitar never loses its tonal characteristics. Perfect for cranking your tube amp and using the volume knobs to go from clean to dirty. Itβs a tone that could only be believed by playing, feeling and hearing the guitar in person. Itβs the kind of tonality that excites the senses and stands out in a mix. Due to the semi-hollow nature of these guitars and acoustic instrument grade woods; the Badmoon is also the perfect instrument for solo guitar work. It excels when finger-picked, with a Gretsch-like thump in the middle position. Harmonics that leap off the fretboard and musical feedback are both staples of the Badmoon's design.
