This is a listing for the final Ronin Guitars Badmoon model ever built. Completed in 2021 and originally sold through our store to a local customer / collector. This guitar is now up for sale after he fell for one of Izzy’s other creations. The guitar is in pristine condition, just how we originally remember it.
This Badmoon may have never been. Luthier Izzy Lugo was going through his batch of wood and found a body buried away, that he had started working on and never completed. We’ll we purchased it and it came out beautifully. This guitar is a true show stopper in it's all Aged Black nitro finish and bound in grained ivoroid.
The Badmoon is a set-neck 24 3/4" scale Semi-Hollow Body guitar and is as rare of a model as they come. This particular example in Aged Black is extremely loud acoustically for an electric guitar, due to its reclaimed old-growth Redwood body and Honduran Mahogany set-neck. All of the acoustic information gets transferred to its unique and sophisticated electric voice. It blooms with a breath like pulse when chords or notes are left to ring out and has tremendous sustain and perfect note-to-note separation: Much of this is due in part to it's Redwood construction, the large 50's style "Les Paul" U shaped neck and the unique Ronin Foil-Bucker & Single-Foil pickup designs. It is nothing short of amazing and an incredibly inspiring guitar.
Pick with a light touch for clean and warm tones with tons of clarity or dig in for biting, snappy, blues and rock tones. The guitar reacts extremely well to where the volume and tone controls are set, giving you a wide palate to create your own signature sound.
This Single-Foil in the neck position is warm and inviting when clean, while handling overdrive like a champ; giving you raunchy yet articulate blues tones in spades. The classic bridge Foil Bucker is like a mix between the best sounding vintage PAF Humbucker and the crisp and airy tone of a great vintage Gold Foil pickup. Both pickups have loads of girth and clarity. They are extremely responsive to the touch. As you lower the volume control this guitar never looses its tonal characteristics. Perfect for cranking your tube amp and using the volume knob on your guitar to go from clean to dirty. It’s a tone that can only be believed by playing, feeling and hearing the guitar in person. It’s the kind of tonality that excites the senses and stands out at a gig or in a mix.
The Badmoon is also the perfect instrument for solo guitar work. It excels when finger-picked, with an almost Gretsch-like thump in the middle position. Harmonics that leap off the fretboard and musical feedback are both staples of the Badmoon's design. In a setting with other players the tonality is more than crisp enough to cut through a mix or other instruments during a live performance, especially in the bridge position.
This Badmoon is also a lightweight. It weighs in at a well balanced 6lbs 4oz.
See 3rd to last photo of the guitar w/ no strings on it, for a better idea of the relic job / artificial finish checking.
