Here we have one of our favorite Ronin models, the Morningstar. This is a "Limited Build" from 2016. We were dealing new Ronins during the "Last Call" builds of 2019 and must say that the Stratofoil Pickups are by far one of Ronins greatest achievements, if not their most versatile set of pickups. There is an airiness about them and they always retain perfect note definition/clarity, a crisp clear top end and the most impressive EQ-ing of the Mids and Low-end of a pickup we've yet to hear.
There is a 5 way switch giving you all the familiar S-Style position tones, as well as two mini buttons that activate a passive clean-boost for the bridge pickup and a blend-able Piezo pickup, located inside of the body (its called the "Magic Button") The Magic Button opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Upon engaging this feature, the highly resonant Master Grade Old-Growth Redwood body becomes even more alive. Tapping the body, scraping at the springs, tapping the neck or playing behind the nut are all possibilities you can amplify.
A great way to use it, is to dial back the volume and tone of the Statofoil pickups and dial in a bit of gain. You'll be able to get very convincing Lap-Steel, Dobro and even Archtop-type tones. A very useful tool for the experimental guitarist.
This guitar has an extremely beautiful and incredible feeling, highly figured roasted Flamed-Maple neck.
Ronin necks are Quarter-sawn, for maximum resonance.
This guitar has had a recent professional set-up and is in great condition. It plays like a dream. The Mannmade 2-pin Vibrato works and balances perfectly. You can get all that horn-like flutter as well as dive-bomb without going out of tune. It’s truly a joy.
The only thing condition-wise worth mentioning, is on the treble side of the body. The last owner accidentally left the vibrato arm loose in the case; with the guitar inside, causing an indentation to the finish and body. The good news is that it's hard to notice, unless you are to closely inspect the guitar; as it's on the treble side, where the guitar rests on your knee. The upside is this guitar is not as highly-priced as other Ronin Morningstars on the current used guitar market. Slight scratches and finish checking only add to the beauty of this road warrior of a guitar. Reunion Blues protective-Gig-Bag and COA are both included.
