Soultool Guitars is a one-man shop and high-end guitar building operation in Switzerland. Luthier Egon Rauscher has a knack for building some of the most brilliantly designed, beautifully playing, esthetically gorgeous and soulful instruments we've ever laid hands on and we've played a lot of rare/unique guitars. When you pick up this instrument you know you're holding a meticulously built, high-end, handmade piece of playable art. The craftsmanship is just remarkable. Access to the upper registers is comfortable and easy, due to the rolled edges of the deep cutaway on the body. The custom Two-Zone Fretting system Soultool uses is also another player friendly feature, The frets furthest up the board gradually become thinner to avoid finger cramping and fatigue. This guitar also resonates in your hand like an acoustic instrument. This translates very well to this Laguz's electric voice, when plugged in. The GoodTone (Hand-Wound in Switzerland) P-90 and Humbucker pickups react to even the most subtle nuances of your pick attack and touch, while the Tunamatic Bridge (ABM) and string through body feature, provides loads of sustain with a nice crisp attack utilizing an Aluminum sustain block. There is no binding on this guitar but it feels like there is; as each fret is bent to the proper radius and then put in from the top of the fingerboard, leaving the sides of the fingerboard still intact. The gorgeous Pearl White (High-Gloss) finish is remarkably thin and looks beautiful with the Pearloid Pick-Guard. All in all this is a remarkable heir-loom quality guitar.
This was a 2020 NAMM show piece and may show some very light (almost non-existent) scratches on the back, but is Brand New. The price reflects this.
