Soultool Guitars is a one-man shop and high-end guitar building operation in Switzerland. Luthier Egon Rauscher has a knack for building some of the most brilliantly designed and soulful instruments we've ever played and we've played a lot of rare guitars. When you pick up this instrument you know you're holding a meticulously built high-quality piece of highly playable art. The craftsmanship is just remarkable.
Access to the upper registers is comfortable and easy, due to the rolled edges of the deep cutaway on the body to the Two-Zone Fretting system Soultool uses, which makes it so that the frets furthest up the board gradually become thinner to avoid finger cramping. This guitar also resonantes in your hand like an acoustic guitar. This translates very well to it's lively and woody electric guitar voice, when plugged in. The hum-cancelling P-90's pickup even the most subtle nuances of your playing, while the wraparound bridge provides loads of sustain. There is no binding on this guitar but it feels like there is, as each fret is put in from the top and the fingerboard's fret slots are only cut in the middle of the board; leaving the sides of the fingerboard still intact. Overall we couldn't be more pleased with this fine hand built guitar.
