Starr Guitars out of Florida, is a fully custom guitar company run by Kip Elder. They have built a big name for themselves for their masterful finishing work. All finishes are pure Nitro and both feel and look a step above most high-end instruments out there. Starr does finish work for many high end guitar manufactures and Lutheirs such as Ronin Guitars and Pensa Custom, as well as restoration work on the most sought after vintage guitars in the world.
This custom handmade Starr P-Bass build, features a Curtis Novak Pickups Bisonic/Darkstar bridge pickup with one volume and one tone control. The Darkstar is an exact reproduction hand-wound Humbucker, based on the Hagstrum Bisonic. It has plenty of top-end clarity with its 4 large alnico rod magnets, with a tight focused mid-range and plenty of Bass on tap. The neck is built from a gorgeous piece of Rock Maple, with a tinted Nitro Finish that looks and feels as vintage correct as possible. Upon picking up this Bass; it's as if you walked into a shop in the 1960's and played a brand new, freshly setup "Fullerton built" P-Bass. Spot on. The body is built from Alder and is finished in a pure Nirto Lacquer Surf Green finish. The setup is immaculate, with low action and great attention to detail on the fretwork. The bridge is a Hipshot Stlye A bridge, which is built out of Aircraft Grade Aluminum, with adjustable string spacing. A very cool and tasteful bridge indeed. T-Style knobs and CTS pots make for an easy playing experience. We couldn't recommend this instrument any higher.
