The Jetson by Uma Guitars is a six string, solid-body set-neck electric guitar; with a unique slightly offset waist that balances effortlessly both seated and/or standing. The guitar features a single Mojo Pickups UK Dual-Foil. This Humbucking Gold-Foil pickup can be split and wired in many ways and is attached to three slide switches on the beautiful silver anodized aluminum pick-guard. The lines of the body and guard are graceful and classy, while appearing ultra-modern in a particularly tasteful way. This Jetson guitar features a Dark Grey Metallic, Matte Nitro finish that is so light, it seeps into the one-piece Yellow Cedar body, so that you can feel the wood grain. On this particular Jetson, Luthiers Simon and Jonas were striving to achieve building an instrument with a base neck pickup type of tone, that can be altered by the switches. Using the Series/Parallel switch, you can achieve a mild-output airy and articulate almost single-coil like neck pickup tone or a much higher output darker sound in series, that is great for pushing your tube amp into overdrive. The Dual-Foil never sounds muddy in any position. The second switch is a bass-cut switch which bleeds some bass to ground for more treble, great for standing out in a mix or use with overdrive and the third and final switch is a Piezo Pickup that resides in a cavity inside of the body. With the Piezo/acoustic pickup on, you can get all sorts of Archtop or Dobro-like sounds. It is extremely pronounced and useful for both the purist and/or experimental guitarist. As the guitar sounds incredible played solo or in a mix. The ability to blend the magnetic pickups with the piezo/acoustic pickup, offers lots of sonic possibilities. Tapping the body or playing behind the nut or saddles, etc can yield some intergalactic tonal results; especially when mixed with some overdrive or other styles of effects pedals. The bridge is a Mastery hardtail (chopped Tele style) with two fully intimated chrome plated brass saddles. The bridge is top-loading and not string through body for a slinkier feel. We love the large volume knob for pinkie swells and it’s aesthetic impact. The set maple neck is roasted with a beautiful flame figure and features matte/chrome Schertler open-gear tuners, for great tuning stability and a futuristic high-end feel and look. Going to the fingerboard we have a striking piece of Zirocote with small side block inlays and Umas own Ellipse inlays on the board. This guitar has a super comfortable 9.5” to 12” compound radius. This makes it so that in first and second position the radius has a great feel for both open and complex chordal shapes, but as you move up the board past the 12th fret you can bend with ease and never fret-out. The board ends on a slant with 22 frets all together. The fretwork is exceptional. Once you’ve picked up an Uma Jetson you will not want to let it go. They are indispensable tools for all serious guitarists. These are some of the finest, most well thought-out and built, forward-thinking designed guitars we've seen in a long time. Purely inspirational. The pickup on this guitar has an Iridescent Foil, that changes colors as you move the guitar or look at it from different vantage points.
